Die Benennung der „Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt" trägt dazu bei, den Reichtum, die Vielfalt und die Gemeinsamkeiten des kulturellen Erbes in Europa herauszustellen und ein besseres Verständnis der Bürger Europas füreinander zu ermöglichen. Einige Tage nach dem 1° Januar, begleitete die fotographers Deniz Özgün und Barış Gürsel Istanbul Einwohner, die einen Teil ihrer Stadt erkundeten und entdeckten. Die Meschen seien ihm heiter und glücklich vorgekommen. ??? Fotos zeugen von der künstlerischen Kraft Istanbuls. Im Lauf der Zeit ist die Empfindlichkeit gegenüber die Passenten kontinuierlich gewachsen.
Comment la photographie peut-elle parler avec ses moyens propres d’une capitale culturelle ? Elle ne reflète rien mais construit des significations. Il n’y a rien à voir en tant que tel. En revanche, le regard porté par les photographes Deniz Özgün et Barış Gürsel peut manifester des lignes de force, des perspectives, des associations ou dissociations qui sont autant d’appels à un travail du spectateur, afin qu’il tire lui-même de la proposition faite la matière d’une analyse. Nous remercions vivement les deux photographes qui nous ont ici prêté leur concours.
Portraits of a town, by Deniz Özgün and Barış Gürsel. How can we interpret this choice of photographs ? Above and beyond the great documentary interest, it is the technique of the photographers that catches our attention. The exhibit feels like a random stroll through a town, seen through the eyes of two informed spectators who capture the sculptural effects of buildings and its inhabitants, in their wanderings. In many photographs, the viewing angle gives priority to edges, putting the accent on vertical lines. The viewer also senses the pleasure of the confrontation between the photographer and the people. It is not a coincidence that these images are so filled with human presence.
